Since its then groundbreaking pilot work in Uzbekistan began in 2018, Acted has built strong regional expertise on women’s empowerment, gender equality and combatting domestic and gender-based violence (GBV). In liaison with civil society and government, Acted is striving to improve the protection of women at-risk and survivors of domestic violence across Central Asia. To do so, Acted empowers civil society to support the effective implementation of legislation, enhances access to comprehensive support services and fosters women’s economic empowerment, while promoting equitable social norms and behaviors. Via a regional platform for key stakeholders, Acted is also promoting peer-to-peer learning and exchange in Central Asia.
